We are raising American Guinea Hog sows and crossbreeding them with Kunekune boars. The personalities are outstanding. We have very friendly and happy pigs. They are a lard type cross, and they are also a much smaller and slower growing hog in general when compared with commercial types. They are excellent foragers, and the cross does root a bit like the AGH, so we are able to use them for forest rejuvenation and weed control in conjunction with the goats. They get all the whey from cheesemaking and extra milk they could want, and are supplemented with non-GMO Amish feed, so they are happy, healthy pigs. We have chosen not to go with registered stock at this time. Our focus is producing a small homestead appropriate hog that provides sufficient high quality lard for soap making, while producing high quality table cuts and charcuterie for our own use. We hope to be able to offer charcuterie to the public in the future.
